You Are Not Alone is a data visualization project using statistics from various alliances, the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health), and others on the rates of various mental illnesses in the United States. Each notch in a spike represents one in one-thousand people in the United States that have this illness. I did a survey with friends who have these illnesses and asked them to describe the color and textural qualities of these illnesses, and used that data to create video maps to overlay each spike when the user hovers over it.
7Hours was created for the New Media Senior Showcase as part of my senior thesis project. It is a game set in a small town gay bar, where the protagonist engages in a clue-like game of guessing and investigating. The game was created as a commentary on the queering of horror antagonists as well as the dynamics of straight people in queer spaces like gay bars and gay clubs. All assets were created or manipulated in Photoshop and Illustrator. Audio was composited, created, and altered using FL Studio. WARNING: Game contains blood, gore, and violence.
Haunting Simulator is a Work-In-Progress project I'm creating in 3DSMax and Unreal 4. I wanted to explore common horror tropes that are prevalent in 2010's horror flicks, such as the overworked/undersexed mother, the absentee/disbelieving father, multiple younger children, and one elder sibling, as well as the family pet. This framework is generally interchangeable, as seen in films like The Conjuring (1 and 2), Insidious, Sinister, and Dark Skies, as well as most current Netflix haunted house films. The user plays as either a poltergeist, evil spirit, or demonic entity, and the gameplay is akin to The Sims or strategy games like Pandemic.
